Whale Watching Coolangatta/Tweed Heads/Gold Coast Australia 18th Sept 08

18 Sep 2008

No trip Wed – too rough and windy.

Today, Thursday – well – oh my god!  How many whales do you want, today off the coast of Coolangatta we were blessed with around 30 Humpback Whales all FEEDING !! yes that’s right – feeding and what a sight – we had dolphins and birds and whales everywhere!!!  The sea was calm, no wind and the sun came out just for us, we spotted one pod about 3 miles off Coolangatta, this pair were very quiet and down time was quite long, so we left this pair and headed out to about 4 miles where we could see 2 or 3 pods close together heading north – when we arrived, there were more pods and more pods and then some more – we had a heap of dolphins and one whale on it’s own that we believed was a pilot whale.  We spent the rest of the trip surrounded by around 25-30 whales all feeding, huffing and puffing – they were very happy with themselves, then we were blessed once again with a breaching whale and some tail lobbing.  What a day – so many whales, not travelling but feeding.  Plenty of bait fish around this morning.  Spectacular indeed.  No calves today

Our 100% guaranteed whales – stands firm – no misses in 2 years !!

This has been Carol – ‘The Whale Women’ – until tomorrow
