We would have seen at least 20 whales again today.  All still heading north.  Several pods scattered around 3.5 miles off shore all travelling slow. A couple of pods just took long dives, so we left these and moved to a pod that was very active off Kingscliff.
One humpback whale in the pod continued to breach and breach and we were overwhelmed with excitement as this whale happily entertained us for ages and ages.
He rolled over, pectoral fin slapping and it wasn’t until they came close to us that we realised there was a CALF !!! and only days old if that !!!  The Cow brought her knew borne to the boat twice and what a picture and such a joy.  Mum came within feet of the boat, rolled over and looked straight at us, as if to say, your ok, you can see my baby !!!  Oh My God !!!  She brought her calf to the front of the boat and then again around the back of the boat.
This little whale was given a name by the passengers – Harry the Humpback and his little dorsal was bent over and not yet firm, just beautiful.  They continued their journey North, while the escort humpback whale was happily rolling over and slapping the water – all so very exciting.
So plenty of excitement this week, the weather has been fabulous and will continue so for the rest of the week.

Most obvious is the appearance of Migaloo, who graced us with his presence on Wednesday the 1st of July.
On Tuesday we had a lot of Humpbacks cruising past but no breaches at all.
Never the less it was till exciting to see all the whales and the seas were beautiful and glassy on Tuesday.

Wednesday was the day when the great white whale made his appearance.

He was AWESOME – MAGIC – FANTASTIC – UNBELIEVEABLE – I was so excited and I was jumping all over the deck with glee – everyone on board was excited too and we just couldn’t believe our luck in finding him.  We first thought he might have snuck past in the dead of night, but no, he was out about 10 miles happily swiming north to the Whitsundays where he will frolick with lots and lots of lucky females during the mating season.

This is the first time he has been seen off the coast since 2005.  We were lucky enough to see him off Port Macquarie on the 13th June 2005 and no one has seen him since and now here he is again and how lucky were we?  Dan Howard was onboard this morning with his camera, he will post photo’s during the course of the day, take a look, Migaloo is truly magnificant and so white, he’s a beautiful sight indeed.

PS we have been seeing lots of other magnificant whales every day too, it has been a super season and it’s just got a whole heap better, see you out whale watching with us off Coolangatta – cause we’re simply the best and you will have an absolute ball with us !!

Today you couldn’t have asked for better conditions as the sea was dead calm, no wind and plenty of Gold Coast Sunshine. We headed out at 9am and within 30 minutes were viewing our first pod of Humpback Whales, then there was another and another and another – pods everywhere, some heading North and some heading South and some just happy to play around the entire trip – this pod was very social going from one pod to another the entire time. The playful pod visited within meters of the boat several times, just close enough to let us see how magnificant these mammals really are.

Everyone on board were just amazed at how many whales we had on our trip today, we estimated more than 20 humpback whales of which we had a cow and calf on their way back to the Antarctic – awesome stuff indeed.

The Southern migration is in full swing now and the calves are just starting to come through – peak time for Gold Coast – Tweed Coast whale watching

Light winds and clear skies made for perfect ‘whale watching’ weather ….

On this charter we came acoss 25-30 humpback whales. With a few of them breaching spectacularly… check out the photos in the gallery.

There’s still plenty of time for you to get out on the water with ‘Aquatic Blue Charters’ as the seoson runs right up until November.

And with a record number of humpback whales migrating north…. We guarantte you will see whales!!!! we havent missed out yet!!

We encountered about 20 humpback whales in 3-4 pods making their way north past the Gold Coast.

The weather was a little bit overcast (which wasnt great for photos at some stages) and quite cool (it is winter after all!!)… but when the sun came out it wasnt too bad.

And there were a few frisky whales who breached a few spectacular times for all the people lucky enough to have been aboard the Whale Watcher..

But even so the migrating humpbackwhales on their annual migration north put on a great show for all the guests on the ‘Whale watcher’……

There were several different pods of whales about and one in particular that decided to have a play and and show us some magnificent breaches and Spy Hops.
