What a magnificant season we have had off the sunny Gold Coast this year. Coolangatta/Tweed Heads served up some good weather and plenty of whales, but sadly our season has come to an end.
We did our final whale watching trip last Friday 7th November 2008 we had two older whales travelling close to shore and travelling fairly quickly and not at all interested in us. Their diving time was around 10 minutes with only 2-3 breaths on the surface and down they went again. Not another sighting all morning. On the trip though we had dolphins and a huge pack of Sting Rays, so that was good.
The weather turned nasty on the weekend and today the wind is still up and strong. There are still whales going by, not in the numbers like they were, we should still see the odd one or two pods going past daily for the next week or so.
This season now marks our third year running with a 100% success on seeing whales on each and every trip – that’s right – we didn’t miss the whales once this year nor in the past two years, we are very proud of our success.
We now head into our Deep Sea Fishing Adventures, which should commence within the next few weeks.
This has been Carol ‘The Whale Women’ until next time.
